They have kept the same format of models, i.e., "3 series", "5 Series" for some time now, but there are many different versions of each model type (i.e. 323d, 116i, 523i etc), the good news being there is a lot of cross usage of spares, say from the "1 series" to the "3 Series".

Buying any BMW spares new is not cheap, and in most cases aftermarket replacements may not be of the quality expected for these German quality vehicles, so buying used genuine BMW OEM parts from a specialised breaker yard, is often a good decision.
